I've already typed this once and TypePad lost it. Kills me. So this will be short and sweet.
Camp happened, and it was awesome.
The shirts and sweatshirts were made by Stacey's sister and they ROCKED! And Stacey brought up a cool craft for DPN holders. Check mine out....
I chose the "Tape Worm" motif. (Why, oh why, can't I have a tape worm for a good three months or so? They were advocating that on the movie S*X in the City.... Do ya think it'll work?)
And some other girls were making Jesus do the work of my Tape Worms...
He's either saying, "Bless You My Child," or, "Aaargggg! I give up!!!" Shoot, I hope it's the first one.
Kim laid out all of her squares plus all the squares we made to trade... I love them all!
And, just to show you the cool squares that Kim made here's a pic. I stole from Kim's blog.
Man, here it is still down here! @#)&TNIO*&&%$&&. That's a lot of bad words strung together there.
Buffalo Traffic Jam
We just spent a WONDERFUL week going through Yellowstone and ending in Cody WY. We rented a big trailer to pull behind the Denali and camped in different campgrounds. Brilliant trip. I cannot wait to go again somewhere. Our best friends from San Diego met us in the park at a campground and we were off on our adventure. We got back last night at around 11:30 PM.
I'm off again tomorrow to "Camp Wannaknitknit" up in Vail, CO. It's basically all the girls from Littleton meeting up there for a four day knit fest. I'm glad I was asked to go this year! I also hear a special guest named Cynthia will be coming in from Boston to hang out. I think there are 15 total girls. FUN! We are all trading our squares from the Barn Raising Blanket from the book Knit-Along. I cannot wait to see what everyone did. I finished my 9 squares and have knit another 3 or 4. Addicting, portable, and fun, those squares.
Wow, sorry for the bad writing. I just re-read it and it's choppy and boring. I'll just put some pictures in and make it all better.
Beehive Geyser a'blowin
Ok, a little bit better.... Maybe? Cowboy Butts at the Cody Rodeo
Now that HAS to be better. You know those Wranglers and boots always get me.... Throw in some chaps and there might be trouble...
Our entire group of travelers...
If you emailed me and are waiting for a response. I'll be back in the swing of things by Tuesday of next week.
Suzanne of KLJ? If you are reading this - your request is totally fine. I'll call you when I get back, ok?
Jenny Lake, in the Grand Teton National Park (for you Jeni)
For now, enjoy the pics.
And, that's all she wrote!
This weekend was the wonderful Estes Wool Market up in Estes Park, and despite me looking like I'm 7 months pregnant in this picture I had a GREAT time! All of us girls stayed in some cool cabins for the night, and then headed out in the early morning for some coffee and shopping. I like Kelly's picture of us the best though. It makes us look so much more fun!
This year I was on the lookout for a couple of good fleeces that I'm going to send away to Morro Fleece Works for processing. They do an amazing job! So I can show you one of the fleeces, but the other was brought home by my friend Michaele who had more room in her car (thank goodness) Thanks Michaele!
So here is my favorite.... It's Casper from Sheepfeathers Farm (no link, but they are here in Lafayette, CO) phone # is 303-665-2618. This is a CVM/Corriedale cross with incredible crimp and WAY soft. Casper won 2nd place in his class and only because it was a smaller fleece than that of first place. But, when I say smaller, it is a 7 lb. fleece. Nothing to sneeze at. I think once it's processed it'll be about 4 1/2 lbs.
The judging was amazing. A lady from Taos (apparently very famous in the wool business) came out to Estes to do the judging. I'm sorry I don't have her name, but I do have a photo. According to each class of wool there were different characteristics to look for. I really learned a LOT. And, despite the fact I saw about 10 more fleeces I wanted to bring home, I got the two I really wanted. I see some amazing spinning in my future. For some reason I'm really into the natural colored fleeces and yarns right now, and that could be because I'm a dyer and use BRIGHT colors all the time.
Does anyone here know her name?
She's judging my white fleece here in the foreground which won 1st place in it's class. I think there were about 7 other fleeces but I can't remember. Micahele, you CANNOT have this fleece! Hee!

I also got to go down to Karlene and Gunter Schultz's house, spend the night, and spend some time working on my antique sock knitting machine. I got to go down and spend the night last year before the big broken foot happened and work on my machine. These things are harder than you think, but sooooo dang fun! I'm going to figure this thing out if it kills me! And, as she did last year Karlene had a room all ready for me, and made amazing FOOD with Gunter's help. This family is all about the hospitality!
There is a lady from New Zealand who makes a new machine based on plans from the old antique machines and she is absolutely amazing. She came out to stay with Karlene as well and worked on all of our machines.
Wanna buy one? Here is an original ad from Good Housekeeping, October 1920. She makes it look so easy. HA!
But, here is Jacquie's Site where she makes them new, and pretty and the support is great on these. I'm saving up for one of these new ones...
But the best, and most interesting part about Jacquie is she has been awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit by Queen Elizabeth II for adopting and fostering over 70 kids. And she is a Transsexual. Woah. And, if you know me, I want to pick her brain all about that aspect of her life. What's funny is that if I hadn't been told, I would have NEVER known. Seriously. And, that part of her life is VERY secondary to the real her. Anyway, go read here for some more of her background. I think she's had about 7 lives already..... I really want to know her. And after spending an afternoon with her, you can tell she has a heart of gold and has a gentle spirit. Ok, enough sappy stuff. She's cool and she makes a cool product. It's always great to support the little businesses.

I have SLAVES - or should I say INDENTURED SERVANTS. My new workers are over-excited to make the money I'm paying them, so I have to fight them to stop. Slave-1, I mean Kid 1 has learned to re-skein and is a wonder at it. Thank goodness.
Slave 2, Kid 2 is a labeling wonder. I have a lot of yarnage. Go Girls!!!!

My Friendship Blanket (Barn Raising Blanket) is going fast. I've done 7 squares so far, and I finished two in the last day. Here are 4 that are already blocked. One is blue for those that don't like pink, or I'll put it in my own blanket. The pinkish is Red Rocks Fiber Works Aspen Sock in Boleyn Girl , and the blue is Shibuiknits. Not sure of the name of the yarn.

And, last but not least was Kid 2's Dance Recital. This place means business. They push out about 15 pre-professionals every year who go to all the top dance schools around the nation. They do a very professional show which was held at Columbine High School. The place had about 500 people each night packing the place out. Kid 2 does Tap, and Jazz, and next year, we'll be adding in Modern and Hip Hop. They like her and think she's pretty good, as since she is a "self-proclaimed" non-sportswoman Dance is right up her ally. We haven't yet told her that Snow-Skiing is a sport, and that skiing on the Breckenridge ski team is sporty. (GASP!) Please, no one break it to her!
And, after that LONG post, that is all she wrote! Have a GREAT week!
Today we went to the Padre's oops, nope, the Rockies game which was a GREAT day to be at Coors Field. It started out HOT HOT HOT, and ended up cool and windy. Great weather. I even think I saw my good friend Kim and her son Rage on the Jumbo Tron, but I'm not sure. Were you there Kim???
So, what was fun, is that our friends Mark and Carolyn (who invited us,) their kiddos, and the whole baseball team were there. TOTALLY fun to watch teenagers interact with each other and their parents. I'm SOOOO not ready for that.
Stacey, Jeni, and Kelly.... You'll be happy to know that I finally figured out how to get past that first inch of my next square. This yarn qualifies in my stash for the "most cast on and ripped out" category at a whopping 9 times. So, I'm rockin' on this one and should be done tonight. That'll be 5. 4 more to go toward our "friendship blanket, " for the Barn Raising Quilt. (Let the record show that I started this square in church, and knit on it at the game.... It is a blessed and sporty square!)
That's it for today!
And, that's all she wrote...
Thanks everyone, for all the support, and all the purchases you made! I am assuming that by now all of you have gotten your yarns (hopefully). (Marina in Germany.... I think I've got you figured out, and we can do this!)
I really had no idea that selling on line here would go over so well! I think I had 6 skeins in total left out of all of those listed! Can I get a Whoop Whoop!!?!!! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
Since the sale, I've been busy dyeing, dyeing, dyeing. I received over 500 pounds of "blanks," with another 300 lbs arriving this coming week. Yesterday I dyed 150 skeins of Aspen, and the two days before that, I dyed up some of my new yarn base which is to DYE/DIE for! It's an 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon. It is an amazingly soft fingering/sport weight yarn that is now my very favorite. I have it in worsted weight as well, and I'll be knitting a full sweater out of this stuff. It's STRONG and it's SOFT. I didn't know yarn could come like that! (Well, ok, there is silk and all...) Now, I just need a name for the base. It's got to be "Colorado-ish." Anybody have any ideas? Something posh - cool - upscale...
Hopefully I'll have pictures for you to see later. I just wanted to get on here and say a big THANK YOU!!!
Stay tuned for a little surprise later. I think you'll like it.....
(Pictured above is "Pewter Cup" in my yarn base called Steamboat. It's Approx. 667 yards, 51% silk, 49% Merino Lace, and 5.1 oz. Lovely, eh?)
And, that's-a all-a she wrote-a....
Remember this yarn from yesterday?
Gerri and I (the owner of Knit Knack) have decided that we are going to be donating 30% from the yarn sales to the Susan G. Koman foundation. I believe that Gerri will be pairing it with a pattern as well. She will also be donating all coffee drink sales for the month of June and any tips you give. How's that for a fund raiser! All in the name of our friend Nicole . Nicole, we love you and we are praying for you.
Again, she only has 30 skeins of this yarn, so once it's gone, it's gone. For more information you can call Knit Knack . Remember, she can ship to you as well! The Shop's phone is (303) 456-2021.
